hillsong- open my eyes
got back from the sd mission trip today. woke up at seven, got to the airport and then got on the 10:40am flight to the oakland airport. half the people stayed behind and were on standby for the 1:50pm flight back because their earlier flight was canceled (sad). scarfed down amazing 떡만두국 at northloop which was the first korean food i’ve had this week. i’ve stuffed myself with so much good food in sd: gigantic burritos, monstrous carne ansada (spelling?) fries, funnel cake sticks (OMGGWOW), bottomless fries and drinks (HAHA), pho and a whole parade of fried foods. met yumi’s baby jeremy for the first time at nl– mad cute. took the bart with chris to fremont who showed me the crazy google skymap app which is totally awesome (almost makes me want an android phone), and then knocked out at home until eight.
i didn’t expect for the sd trip to be so eye opening, to be honest i was having second thoughts about going out of sheer laziness. man, am i glad i went. it was my first mission trip, and i went with the expectation that i would be trying to reach out to others, and didn’t realize how the trip would minister to myself. i don’t think i can see students the same way ever again. i dont think i can see church plants the same way ever again. i feel so overwhelmingly grateful for the privilege to have experienced serving with austin and the sd team. so much happened on this trip, i don’t think i can fully capture it in a blog. i am just so grateful that some things i’ve been praying about were answered during this trip, and now i can move forward without hesitation.
and another thing happened on this trip that i didn’t expect… who knew? hah! God is funny.
